Q. Whats the differance between Flashing a bios and installing a chip.
A bois upgrade uses the onboard chip that is reflashed where a chip is wired in, they both do the same thing and usually have the same code. We usually flash your xbox unless you request a chip.
Q. I heard there are different Drives.
There are 3 different Drives you may have, some read more media than others.
1. Thompson Drive - Doesn't read cdr can read some brands of cdrw.
2. Phillips Drive - can read some cdr and most cdrw.
3. Samsung Drive - Plays all types of media.
Q. What type of DVD-R Media should I use.
The best bet is to try different types and stick with what works. So dont buy in bulk first up. I have found Ritek DVD-R works well on all drives. Verbatum is another good brand.
Q. Can I use Xbox Live.
Yes, see upgrades. An alternative is xbconnect.com, or read more here
Q. How many games can I fit on a larger Hard Drive.
A game can be upto 4.7 Gigabytes but on average 2 - 2.5 gigabytes would give you a real approx. So a 80 Gig HD will fit approx. 32-40 games and a 120 gig HD will fit approx. 48-60 games.
