COMPANY INFORMATION
Wood Technology Australia (WTA) provides honest, uncompromised consulting services to the timber industry. WTA also strives to produce high quality software products without peer in the particular sector and to keep up to date with the latest software and hardware developments to ensure that the best tools possible are available to it's clients.
WTA was founded in 1993 when WTA's Technical Director, Denis Grant, who had been working with the New South Wales State Government in the Wood Technology Division of the Forestry Commisssion of NSW, saw an opportunity to work more closely with the timber industry. The incentive for this lay with the decreasing State and Federal Government interest in supporting R&D in industry oriented fields. It was realised that if genuine progress was going to be made in timber industry R&D then it would need to be done inside the industry by it's own people with the help from time to time of knowledgeable consultants. Unfortunately, over the past 15 years there has been an almost total loss of independent and government experts in the field resulting in the potential for bad decisions being made across many aspects of the utilization of the structural timber resource. The bad decisions may have a significant effect on the viability of some sectors of the industry and potentially assist timber producers in other countries to the detriment of the local industry.
Denis Grant has been involved in both the Timber Grading Committee and Timber Engineering Committe of Standards Australia for many years and is an accredited laboratory assessor with the National Association of Testing Authorities. His extensive experience in the technical issues related to structural timber products and his up to date knowledge makes for an invaluable contribution. His formal qualifications are a BSc(Eng) (UNSW) and a MSc (ANU). He is a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
WTA is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's consulting services and software products are available to industry world wide. Tadpole software is available for MSG operations in any part of the world
