Chaplaincy
More than forty volunteers provide Warrina Homes’ spiritual pastoral care program. They are an essential part of Warrina’s excellent reputation as a friendly and caring community reflecting the Christian ethos.

These volunteers are drawn from among our residents and the local Churches and they bring encouragement and comfort to residents of both Christian and other faiths, both one-to-one and by group devotional times.

The Chaplain’s work involves heading up the pastoral care program which includes –

• personal pastoral visiting by 12 volunteers, mainly to those in Residential Care;
• short worship services (rostered among 18 people) in three locations and including regular Communion celebrations;
• three volunteer training and consultation workshops annually which are always well supported and much appreciated;
• a monthly reflection in the Warrina Newsletters; and
• memorial services when requested: each year several funeral services are held at Warrina Park, as families show their appreciation of the caring family atmosphere and the very suitable facilities.

As the needs of residents change, so does the character of the pastoral care program. Compared with some years ago, visits and worship services are briefer, the songs and Bible readings more familiar, and more attention is given to supporting our volunteer visitors. Our diversional therapy dogs often make an appearance at our weekly devotions – and behave perfectly!
