Tyre Pressures
Premature Tyre Wear Almost all premature and abnormal tyre wear is caused by just five types of errors -
If we can identify and correct these errors, we can eliminate premature wear!
Pressure errors
These cause rapid wear evenly around both shoulders of the tyre. Both over-inflation and under-inflation cause premature wear on the shoulders or outer ribs of modern, steel belted. radial tyres.

Under-inflation causes rapid wear with a smooth textured, rounded slope, evenly around both shoulders of the tyre.

Over-inflation causes rapid wear evenly around both shoulders of the tyre, with a distinct step 30mm to 60mm from the edge of the tyre.

Over-inflation also causes, or accelerates vibration wear. Note the typical “islands” or “high patches” clearly visible on the left shoulder of this over-inflated tyre
