2004 May
20.35 9 x 30 sec,
hi-res resampled to 66%, 5.6 degrees wide, N at left. Very easy naked
eye object in Lepus (mag 2) in the evening sky. The small blob at
bottom right is M78.

2004 May
10.80 3 x 7 minute
exposures with a 50% sunlit moon nearby. Resampled to 33% of original,
10 degrees wide, N at top.

arranged into a mosic. Resampled to 50%, 10 degrees wide, N at top.

2004 April
25.79 2 x 14 min exposures stiched
into mosaic. Resampled to 66%, 6.5 degrees wide, N at top.

2004 April
21.80 2 x 10 min exposures stiched
into a mosaic. Images were taken through fog with the comet
at a low altitude (approx. 12 degrees)
Field has been cropped to approx 6 degrees wide and resampled to 66% of
original. N at top.
Visually, the coma was glimpsed with the naked eye and only 1 degree of
tail was seen in 20x80s. Damn fog!!
Bottom link is full-res image, log-scaled to enhance the detail near
the coma.

2004 April
17.81 10 min exposure (20 x 30sec) in bright
twilight. Average altitude was 11.5 degrees. Strong twilight gradient
removed. Full res image cropped to 3 x 2 degrees, N at top.
Visually it's much brighter than Q4 with a smaller intense blue
coma, DC 8.
Tail has a very high surface brightness, quite similar to last night's
view
of Q4 from a dark sky site, but in this case T7 was observed from a
suburban site in
twilight! The negative image shows 13th mag NGC 7757 to the left of the
bright pair of stars near the centre bottom. At the extreme top of the
image about 1/4 of the way from the left edge is PGC 72595 at mag 14.3!
Bottom link is a logarithmically scaled view of the coma to preserve
detail.
