Dr Ben Lau has over twenty-three years of experience in all aspects of general practice. He set up the practice in 1980.  Apart from a medical degree, he also holds Master in General Practice (Psychiatry), Bachelor of Counselling (UNE), Graduate Certificate in Counselling, Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy and a Graduate Diploma in Couple Therapy. His particular interest is counselling with special interest for family (relationship) problems and addictive behaviour.top

Dr Victor Chan has over twenty-four years of experience in all aspects of general practice.  He joined Dr Ben Lau in 1990.   He is a fellow of Royal Australian College of General practitioners, Royal College of General Practitioners of United Kingdom and Hong Kong College of Family Physicians.  He also holds Master degrees in Family Medicine and Palliative Care and Diploma in Child Health.   He has been a Senior Examiner of the Fellowship examination of Royal Australian College of General Practice since 1997.  He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Palliative Medicine.  He is an adjunct associate professor of Edith Cowan University in palliative medicine.  His particular interests are palliative medicine and clinical diagnostic ultrasonography.top

Practice Hours:

Monday to Friday                     9 am  - 1 pm,  2.30 pm - 6 pm.

Saturday                                     9 am - 1 pm

Sunday                                       9 am - 10.30 am

Public Holidays                          10 am - 12 noon.top

 Appointments:

Please ring 97242619 during surgery hours for an appointment.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time.  Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your doctor has been called away and longer consultation times are available.  You have the right to choose your preferred doctor.top 

After hours arrangements:

The practice provides 24 hour care for our patients by our doctors.   Please ring the normal surgery number and your call will be diverted to their mobile phones.  If their phone is out of the range of contact, you can leave your message in the voicemail.  They will call you back as soon as possible. top

Home visits and Telephone access:

Home visits are available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.  Doctors in the practice may be contacted during normal surgery hours.  If the doctor is with a patient a message will be taken and you will be advised by the reception staff when it is likely that the doctor will return your call.  Your call will always be put through to the doctor in an emergency.  Our doctors bulk bill for all home visits. top

Services available:

Home visits, check-ups, family planning, pap smears, heart check, vaccination, children and travel, minor surgery: stitching cuts, removal of moles, sunspots and small lumps and bumps, cryotherapy for sun spots and warts, nutritional advice, worker compensation service, skin checks, diagnostic procedures: pregnancy tests, microscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ECG, ultrasonography; simple electrical physiotherapy: interferential treatment and short wave diathermy; counselling: marriage, couple, relationship, addiction and obesity. top

This practice is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of your personal health information.  Your medical record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorized members of staff. top

Ramona and Pam are our reception staff.  Both of them have worked in the practice for more than twenty years and have extensive experience in a medical environment.  They are committed to providing you with the best of care.  Please contact them should you have any questions regarding the medical centre or the doctors.  top

 Fees and billing arrangements:

The practice bulk-bill all patients except for patients who are under worker compensation.top

 Your rights:

If you have a problem we would like to hear about it, please feel free to talk to your doctor or reception staff.  You may prefer to write to us or use our suggestion box.  We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously.  However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel that you need to discuss the matter outside of the surgery, there are several options available including The NSW Medical Board or Australian Medical Association. top
