Welcome to Ventana Belgian Shepherds - The
home of Craig & Joanne Parmenter's Belgian Shepherd's.
“Ventana” is Spanish, and means Window to the
World. Our motto and pledge is foremost to harbor and safeguard the Belgian
Shepherd breed, but even more so we treasure the companionship, the never
failing loyalty, and the delight the Belgian Shepherd exudes. We will never
loose sight of why we began breeding and owning this breed- for the sheer
love of this beautiful animal, and the delight it brings to our family.
Craig and Joanne acquired their first Belgian
Shepherd, a 3 year old Malinois named “Rimu” from Phyllis Kandelas of
Corraddee Belgian Shepherds NSW in 2000. Rimu instantly impressed us with
his protection skills and his beautiful temperament.
In 2003 we acquired a second Malinois bitch- “Keira” from Lynda Trotter
of Belgenbeau Belgian
Shepherds in Queensland. Keira was initially purchased just as a
companion dog for Rimu and the family but soon her wonderful type and
temperament prompted us to enter the show ring with both dogs and the
passion for Belgians really began. She is the first dog we have titled.
In November 2004 we acquired our first Gronendael puppy, a bitch named
“Nishka” from Beljekali Belgian Shepherds, NSW.
Nish has the most wonderful temperment and type, and made her first All
Breeds show debute in December, 2004. She has a Junior and 2 x Intermediate
In Specialty Show wins, as well as several Junior in Group wins.

And now, in 2006 we have bred our first litter. We honestly feel these
five puppies are going to offer so much to the Malinois variety in
Australia, but this is only the beginning of a very intensive plan to breed
Malinois close as possible to the Standard. We have the passion, drive and
the ability to create Malinois with type, drive, intelligence and health.
Our journey into this remarkable breed is only just beginning. We hope some
of you may respect our intentions, and someday join us for the ride…..
