Often used to adulterate wines and make beers headier, clary sage is a versatile remedy, but it should be used with care. It relaxes the metabolism, but can keep the brain alert and is useful in cases of fatigue and nervous exhaustion. Clary sage often brings restful sleep followed by a feeling of renewed vigour, but if misused, a night of unbridled restlessness can be the result.
