Bridge Unit
Task
1
 | Research the many different styles and types of Bridges. |
 | Record your findings and make note of the websites that you visit. |
Task
2
 | Research existing, demolished or fallen bridges, famous and historical
Bridges all around the world. |
 | Record the following information:
 | type of Bridge |
 | Bridge designer/engineer |
 | engineering company that built the Bridge |
 | where the Bridge is located; town, country, river |
 | what the Bridge is used for |
 | the name of the Bridge |
 | what the Bridge is predominately made of |

 | Record each website that you found information on. |
Task
3
 | Design and construct a bridge made of spaghetti to hold the most weight.
 | Step 1 Construct several prototype Bridges using the
materials supplied.
 | Skewers, PVC welding rod, toothpicks, straightened wire, cane,
rubber bands and hot glue guns. |

 | Step 2 Use the Spaghetti Bridge Program on the
school's intranet to design a bridge.
 | Take screen dumps of each design (before and after testing) and
paste them in a word document saved in your home drive. |

 | Step 3 Make a prototype of your final design choice
and test it using weights. |
 | Step 4 Record your progress - make sure that you
write everything down, such as:
 | what went wrong |
 | did you change your ideas as you were constructing the prototype |
 | what did you do |
 | what did you find difficult |
 | what was the best part about the design and testing of your bridge |
 | how could the bridge be improved |

 | Step 5 Make your final design to the set parameters. |
 | Step 6 Your Bridge will be tested on open day in May
2005. |
