RonitaRonita was built by Jeff Clist for Ron Cottee, and first registered in 1961. Shortly after she was launched, Ron took her to Lord Howe Island. She competed in many races including Hobart races from '62 to '68, and again in 1994 (Haydn Rough). Construction is carvel with White Beech planking on Spotted Gum, copper and monel fastenings. Ronita seems to have have spent most of her life sailing out of Sydney, but has now moved to Hobart for a while. Currently owned by the Cruickshank family, who plan to cruise and race her a bit while continuing with some necessary upgrading. We're not interested in concours condition, just looking to have her tidy and not deteriorating.
Ronita on the slip in 2005 on her way back to bare wood below the waterline. She has had some ups and downs, but the structure is sound. I'd like to hear from former owners or crew about their experiences on Ronita- hit the contact link on the left! -Shaun Cruickshank . |
