Terry's Firebird Page
Hi everyone,
This is my ramblings page about my experiences indulging a teenage dream - wasting a bunch of cash on an old American muscle car.
With a few mortgages, another perfectly respectable and reliable car, and knowing almost nothing about car mechanics, dishing the cash on what will plainly be a money pit is a questionable undertaking, and certainly not a responsible move.
All of this was acknowledged up front. Usually  on things like this, my "be sensible" brain takes over and I don't go through with it. This time however, I thought "bugger it!!" and indulged a passion - you're a long time dead, after all.
My passion for muscle cars started when I was a kid - the Transam in "Smokey and the Bandit" or the General Lee in "Dukes of Hazzard" I guess contributed.
Rather than extinguishing this desire in my teenage years, my parents insisted I buy a Datsun 120Y - if there was ever a vehicle that was going to cause a repressed desire for a "real" car, that was it.
A bit more background
So really the car that stirred up the desire this year was this one:
A '67 Camaro RS/SS. Was listed on eBay in Perth, wanting $22k (I think). This is still probably my fav muscle car. This car needed a bit of work (normal for one at this price). The price and the location (I'm in Sydney) is what turned me off in the end.
