Belltrees Gundy Road Scone NSW AUS - Bell Trees A hundred years ago it was said that you could travel from Queensland to just north of Sydney and spend every night on a White family property. ‘Bell Trees’, a sheep station in Scone, NSW, was one of those family residences. Up until 1920, 100 people worked in the shearing shed where 180,000 sheep were shorn. 3,000 bales of wool were exported to England. The sheep enterprise eased in 1960 and was replaced by the Angus Beef cattle breading venture. The first generation of White's (James White 1829) came out from England to develop the Merino sheep industry in Australia. They purchased Belltrees station in 1853 and set up a huge pastoral dynasty. Today around 5,000 head of cattle are grazed with major live export sales to Japan.
