LAYOUT PLAN

The mainline is in blue and red with the yard area being orange. The advantage of this layout is with two cab controls the mainline can be operated while the yard area can continue to be utilised independently. Trains can be shunted or made up in the yard. The layout at this stage has two industrial areas one at the western part of the layout and one on the top eastern level.

The mainline has 3 passing loops, for shorter trains the passing loop can be utilised especially if a passenger train is waiting at the station. The second passing loop or storage siding is the green section which runs under the mainline. The third passing area is the classification yard.

The interchange yard is approximately 2.5 metres long (7 feet long) and this is where trains can enter or exit the layout. This yard has now been modified to permit operations of the grain terminal (see operating page).

The new layout extension is currently under final approval stages. Finance is currently being sought with construction expected in March 2001 see layout extension page for details.
