Repeat: number of (weft) threads between each pattern repeat. See Figures 3 and Figures 5.
Width: remaining maximum width given, if incomplete.
Selvedges: X= cut edge; S = simple selvedge; H = hemmed (d = double rolled).
Notes: 1. seam sewn in thick black wool across one end. 2. single break in weaving direction near middle of band. 3. length cut perpendicular to warp. 4. found tied into a 'lasso'. 5. Thread counts estimated from photograph. Other similar bands of width 7.0-7.5 cm are noted, but not described (Pritchard 1992). 6. Like most fabrics of Finnish origin, the warp is made of two Z-spun threads, S-plied. This chevron twill also seems to have (symmetrical) point repeats. No thread count available.
