FEATURES
Highest Quality Pictures
- Three 2/3"Interline Transfer (IT) Hyper HAD CCD sensors
deliver
stunning
resolution of 800 horizontal lines, superb S/N ratio of 63dB and high
sensitivity
of F8.0 at 2000 lux. Improved electronics with excellent frequency
response
and advanced video processing circuitry also contribute to outstanding
picture quality.
- The HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) sensor structure of the
Hyper HAD CCD
plus the use of an OCL (On-Chip-Lens) layer eliminate vertical smear
when
shooting very bright objects.
- EVS (Enhanced Vertical Definition System) provides a
remarkable
vertical
resolution of 450 lines. When combined with the DXC-637's high
horizontal
resolution, EVS ensures incredibly clear and crisp pictures.
"EZ"Functions
- EZ Mode-one button instantly sets up the camera,
ensuring
that the
DXC-637 is ready to capture any action. Especially ideal when you have
to shoot immediately and there is no time to check the camera's
settings.
With EZ mode on, main functions like Auto Iris, Auto Tracing White
Balance,
M.Pedestal, Detail Level Hyper Gain, DCC and Matrix are instantly set
to
their auto or standard positions. In addition you can customize the
values
of control items like Matrix mode ,Shutter, Detail Level and Gain for
the
EZ mode.
- EZ Focus Mode- facilitates simple yet accurate
focusing
during shooting.
By pushing the EZ focus button, the iris is automatically opened and
the
shutter adjusts to obtain the correct light level. This function is
based
on the optical principle that focus can be more easily adjusted when
the
depth of field is reduced by fully opening the iris.
- ATW (Auto Tracing White Balance) function senses
any change
in lighting
and automatically adjusts white balance accordingly. Ideal when
shooting
in fast changing lighting conditions (moving from indoor to an outdoor
location).
- Three-mode auto iris system - provides an
appropriate
luminance
level in every situation:
--Standard (STD) mode is used for ordinary shooting situations.
--High Saturation (H.sat) mode increases color saturation when more
colorful pictures are required.
--Fluorescent Light (FL) mode improves skin tones when shooting under
fluorescent light as it accurately corrects for the usual greenish
cast.
Processing Technology
- Clean Detail circuit eliminates "jaggies". These
are the
jagged,
unnatural diagonal edges which appear on highly contrasted objects.
Clean
Detail limits the detail signal to an appropriate level, allowing you
to
add any amount of detail signal for more natural edge correction.
- DPR (Dual Pixel Readout) is a unique technology
that
combines the
luminance output of two adjacent pixels. With DPR, the light
sensitivity
is doubled (equivalent to +6dB gain-up) without an increase in noise.
This
is unlike conventional cameras where the use of electronic gain-up in
low
light conditions amplifies noise as well as the video signal. DPR can
be
used in combination with gain up modes of +18dB, +24dB or +30dB for
video
level equivalents of +24dB, +30dB or +36dB while suppressing the noise
level.
- Hyper Gain system boosts gain-up to +30dB.
Combined with DPR
you
have an equivalent to +36dB gain, with a much lower noise level then
would
normally accompany this much gain. You just flick a switch to use Hyper
Gain so you'll never lose a shooting opportunity, even in low light
situations
down to 1 lux.
- Digital Enhancement function radically reduces
aliasing and
spurious
modulation providing a stable picture. Aliasing (also known as moire')
occurs when the subject is wearing a fine mesh pattern . Spurious
modulation
or "ghosting" is duplicate or triplicate images of a bright subject
when
shot in dark surroundings.
- DCC+ (Dynamic Contrast Control +) provides clear
pictures
even in
a high contrast environment. By compressing the highlight signal it
prevents
white breakup when shooting high intensity subjects. The DXC-637 has
two
DCC modes:
-- Conventional DCC mode extends the dynamic range up to 600%.
-- In DCC+ mode, even chrominance holds up under highlight compression,
further preventing color faults in high intensity subjects.
DXF-601 Viewfinder
Supplied with the DXC-637L is the DXF-601 1.5-inch viewfinder.
The
DXF-601
displays numerous operating status indicators and menu-control
capabilities
as well as the highest quality images. Built with a diecast aluminum
body,
the DXF-601 is ruggedly constructed but designed to be extremely
user-friendly.
Special attention was paid to the ergonomics of this viewfinder to
ensure
that it is easy and comfortable to operate.
DXF-601 FEATURES
- Viewfinder's position can be horizontally adjusted to
accommodate
preferences.The
large diameter eye cup eases eye strain and simplifies focusing.
- A wide range of diopter adjustments (-3 to 0) is provided
to compensate
for differences in eye sight.
- External Record tally lamp is positioned where it can be
easily checked
during shooting.
- One second after power is turned on, the viewfinder is
ready for
operation.
- Displays recording duration in two ways (selectable from
the camera): TTL
(Total) mode--accumulated shooting time from the start of the tape.
This
is stored in memory, even if power is turned off. DUR (Duration)
mode--the recorded time for the current shot is individually displayed.
- Internal indication lamps for Battery, Record/Tally,
Shutter and Gain
Up
are situated close to the viewfinder for easy viewing.
- Provides 600 lines of horizontal resolution. This is
achieved by
combining
a VF Super Detail circuit built into the DXC-637 with phase-corrected
peaking
circuitry located in the viewfinder itself. The VF Super Detail circuit
adds a vertical detail signal to the viewfinder's video signal making
it
easier to achieve precise focus. The phase-corrected peaking circuit
meanwhile
increases horizontal detail in the viewfinder signal, balancing level
and
phase. There is also fine adjustment control of the peaking level.
- Displays a safety zone and center marker to accurately
frame objects as
they are seen on monitors. The safety zone can indicate either 80% or
90%
of the viewfinder frame. You have a choice of safety zone only, safety
zone with center marker or both off.
- Offers two level settings of the zebra pattern: 70% or
100%. At the
lower
setting, the stripes appear at 70% of video level which is great for
achieving
correct exposure of flesh tones. At the 100% setting, the stripes
appear
at peak white level.
- Always confirms when Auto White Balance is completed
along with the
color
temperature.
- Displays whether or not a connected microphone is
working. A musical
icon
appears when an appropriate level of sound is received via the mic
input.
- Automatically displays when the battery voltage goes
under 11 volts.
In addition to the conventional menu screen, the DXC-637 has an
advanced
menu screen which gives you enhanced control of the camera functions.
You
can change the initial settings according to your particular need.
OPERATING CONVENIENCES
- Clear Scan function enables recording of computer monitors
without the
usual horizontal bands and flickering. This is done by precisely
selecting
a shutter speed to match the scanning frequency or the computer
dis;lay.
Shutter speeds range from 60.4 Hz to 200.3Hz and are selectable in 183
increments.
- The DXC-637 has a SMPTE color bar generator as well as an
audio signal
generator that supplies a 1kHz audio reference signal at the same time
as a color bar signal.
- The position of the DXC-637's shoulder pad is adjustable
forward or
backward
to provide a comfortable, well-balanced camera docked with a VCR or a
camera
adapter.
- You can superimpose the date and time on the video signal
when the
clock
switch is on.
- There is a wide selection of precise gain values available:
-3dB, 0dB,
+3dB, +6dB, +9dB, +12dB, +18dB and +24 dB. The programmable gain mode
allows
any three of these values to be assigned to the three position
LOW/MID/HIGH
switch, thus making the camera ready for any shooting situation.
- Equipped with a unique monitor output. Via an RCA connector
you can
check
shooting conditions by displaying a color picture on an external
monitor and
with all the operating status indicators as well. This is in addition
to
the image displayed in the viewfinder.
Additional Features:
- Built-in character generator lets you create a title of up
to four
lines
with twelve characters each.
- Dual white balance memories for each of the 4 filter wheel
positions.
- High-pass filter in the microphone circuit reduces wind
noise.
- Flare compensation circuit prevents graying or color casts
in dark
portions
of the picture when shooting a bright subject.
