What
was Treffen Oz 2
"Treffen" is a German word meaning....A gathering of like minded
souls, and TREFFEN OZ 2 was exactly that!
A
relatively small number of Haflinger and Pinzgauer enthusiasts from around
Australia (and one from Austria) gathered in September 2002 for a 10 day event to enjoy the
pleasure of driving and experiencing these vehicles in a manner in which they were
designed to be used.
Where
was Treffen Oz 2
Treffen
Oz 2 was held in the Flinders Ranges area of South Australia in AUSTRALIA
between September xth and October the xth.
The
Flinders Ranges are located in the Northern part of South Australia and the area
is readily accessible by all types of vehicles.

In
the last week of September 2002, Haflinger and Pinzgauer owners gathered in
the Flinders Ranges, South Australia for the second Australian
"Treffen".
A
Treffen is a German word meaning "A gathering of like minded
soles" and while Haflinger and Pinzgauer Treffens are regularly held in
Europe and the UK this was only our second in Australia.
Two
Pinzgauers (all 712, 6X6's) six Haflingers and nine non Steyr Puch vehicles
attended.
One
person from Austria came and a whole "heap" from all around
Australia (well, Victoria, NSW and South Australia).
We
began the Treffen in Crystal Brook SA and proceeded over the next week to
drive to the most northern point of the Flinders Ranges....................
during that time we drove around 1000 km.
I
"think" everybody enjoyed themselves (I know I did) and plans are
now in the offing to have another Treffen in Oz in 2004.
 |
The
initial meeting was at the "Treffen Meisters" place of
abode, north of Adelaide
|
|

|
The
whole trip was brilliantly planned and meals were all catered for at a
minimal cost.

Just
a little bit down the road and a lot greener than the country we would
encounter later in the week.

|
There are some magnificent
spots
in the area...
|
|

|
...and
scenes!
|
|

|
The
country was very dry, more so this year as Australia is experiencing a
severe drought.
|
|

|
We
stayed at various properties in the Flinders Ranges and at night we
enjoyed "winding down" around the campfire.
|
|

|
The
scenery was magnificent....
|
|

|
....despite
the drought
