Sliding Bumper Assembly SystemAre you sick of paying out for replacement dock bumpers? Are your bumpers wearing out quicker than before? Are your bumpers being torn off the wall by trucks? Is that because of the increasing use of air bag suspensions? Are walls being pounded to bits due to worn or missing bumpers? Are trucks being damaged because concrete doesn’t give like rubber?
Porter Equipment have developed and patented (Pat. App. No. 2004906229) this amazingly simple but effective sliding bumper assembly that will solve all of these problems for you for a long time!
The system allows the dock bumper to move up and down with the vehicle (when it moves on its suspension) as the forklifts move in and out. Instead of the bumpers being shredded by sharp edges, chaffed to pieces or torn off the walls by the truck movement; they simply move with the vehicle, almost eliminating the friction that causes most bumper wear.
This extends the life of rubber dock bumpers enormously (up to 15 times normal), while handling the rigors of vehicle impact at almost any speed. This means that the loading dock wall and levelling equipment is properly protected from damage throughout the extended life of the bump rubber.
Complete System ProtectedThe sliding mechanism is completely protected behind the rubber bumper. (Unlike many inferior systems with exposed springs, slides and stops, which are easily damaged and render those mechanisms useless) The PORTER mechanism cannot be damaged by vehicles when backing in or by forklifts and pallet movers loading/unloading vehicles normally.
Large Bumper Face Because of the large (455 mm high x 250 mm wide) bumper face, the system allows protection for a large range of vehicle sizes and shapes. Because the full surface of the bumper is supported by the mechanism, the load of impact is spread over the full mounting surface. Smaller and larger systems can be provided if required.
Common Bumper Size Most popular dock bumpers can be fitted with the sliding assembly, saving the cost of replacement bumpers. Of course, if they have already been worn out, new model DB18 bumpers can be supplied as an option.
Extremely Low Profile At only 31 mm thick the sliding assembly adds a minimal amount to the 110 mm thick bumpers. This allows maximum thickness of impact absorbing bumper material in a narrow bumper system. The overall thickness falls within all dock equipment specifications.
Large Range of Movement The system’s design allows for an enormous range of movement both above and below the neutral position (Total of 380 mm). This allows for the extreme travel of the air bag trailer suspensions currently in use.
Positive Positioning at Neutral The exclusive design and balanced spring tension ensures that the system will always maintain the unit in the central position, ready to receive a vehicle.
Very Low Maintenance The system is almost maintenance free; requiring only a smear of grease when your loading docks are being serviced, to ensure that they keep operating almost indefinitely.
Complete Kit Format The System Kit comes with: Fully Assembled mechanism Assembly mounting plates Assembly mounting hardware Shimming epoxy resin bumper bolts/nuts/washers Full installation instructions Blue Giant DB18 Bumpers (optional)
