Uhlenbrock EGB Electronic Gearbox for HO Gauge DC Railways – No. 520

Gone are the times when your locomotives run too fast!  The little chip that is installed into the locomotive reduces its speed, and also causes a slow increase when the power is suddenly switched on.

Installation Instructions

Before the installation you should position the EGB in your vehicle.  In accordance with the upper sketch connect it to a piece of track on which the loco about to be fitted stands.  The associated controller is put on full speed.  By turning the potentiometer P1 to the left, the full speed of the loco decreases.  Once you have reached the desired speed, you can adjust the other potentiometer for the desired acceleration rate:  Turning to the right reduces the acceleration.  As soon as you are satisfied with both adjustments, the chip can be inserted in the loco in accordance with the lower sketch.  But note carefully that it must not come in contact with metal on any side.  Place some paper between or wind around with insulating tape.

Important Hints

The EGB is not suitable for use with Faulhaber motors.  Locomotives equipped with the EGB may emit a slight hum, particularly at starting up.  This though is quite normal and will not harm the motor.  With a few loco-controller combinations it could happen that the EGB gives no satisfactory handling characteristics.  Therefore, trying out before the installation is essential.
