The Sydney Community College Choir is a group of 40 singers from all ages who enjoy singing a wide range of music styles. Their group is one of the many courses offered by the Sydney Community College to the public.

The choir’s concerts now form part of a tradition of presenting fine music for the public’s enjoyment.

Their recent concert, Celebration of Song, presented a wide selection of the best music including works by Mozart, John Rutter, Negro spirituals, Summertime from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Parry’s famous hymn, Jerusalem.

“The music is uplifting, enticing and exciting. It is a celebration of song, The choir has developed a unique sound that is fresh and captivating, and their repertoire of the best music from all ages will appeal to lovers of fine music everywhere”, says choirmaster Christopher Bowen.

The choir meets every Tuesday night at St Mary's Anglican Church, Darling St, Balmain from 8 to 9:30pm.

Christopher Bowen also leads the Sydney University Graduate Choir, the Central Coast Chorale, and the Choir of St John's Wahroonga. The accompanist is Andrew Woodhouse.
