This image is named after a truly excellent collection of short stories by Robert W Chambers. Written in 1895, these SciFi, horror, and fantasy themed short stories along with tales of the life as an expatriate American Art student in 1890's Paris read like they were written yesterday. They style is so current and fresh, the stories so compelling and wonderfully told!

In my drawing I've tried to depict the nature of the lead character of the first story. His is a nature of hubris, vanity and arrogance, he imagines himself a King with power over all the world. In actuality he is a former American cavalry captain, (from a 'futuristic' 1920's America no less!), who's been convalescing due to his insanity. This insanity was brought on by reading 'The King in Yellow', a truly deadly tome! ALL who read it come to a fearful end...
