Our experience with
kestrels is limited to a single instance in which they used a 25 litre drum-design box
intended for kookaburras.
The kestrel would probably use a smaller box, but the size of the female suggests that
it would still be larger than any we are now offering.
Kestrels are birds of the open
grasslands, which suggests that a box should be sited in an open situation.
