WELCOME TO THE
THE MORRISON FAMILY TREE

HOME OF THE SCOTTISH MORRISONS
OF COMRIE AND AUCHTERAUDER
ORIGINS

In the beginning...

It is just on Sunset on a warm Summer's evening, in the Year 1756.

Looking through a window from your Sitting Room, you see through the early evening mist, the breathtaking Isle of Skye across the waters, off the West Coast of Scotland.

Far away in the East, later that day in a small community called Comrie, in the parish of Perthshire, a Service is taking place in a little stone church on a clear Highland day....

The earliest known Morison in Comrie was a Donald Morison, he was a "Reader" in the church there. His descendants remained in Auchinner and spread into other nearby villages over the generations that followed.

The families were mainly sheep farmers, and their ancestors had originally migrated into Comrie from Appin and Kintyre in Argyllshire in the early 1500's. Other related families continued to migrate from those parts on into the late 1700's. Many of the families moved to other areas or migrated overseas during the upheavals of the early 1700's.

One of those families had a son named John Morison who was born about 1725 in Kingarth, Glen Lednock at Comrie in Perthshire Scotland.

John is believed to be our Direct Ancestor.

Notes about Links throughout our Website
1. This page is your starting point for navigating your way through this historic Family Website.
Look for the "Return to"

2. You might want to browse from the top down to the bottom of each page first, then restart from the top and try out all the links. That way, you won't get lost because a link will always bring you back to this page, or to the previous page you just left. Look for the "Return to Previous Page" Links too.

3. We've also created a SITE MAP which flows through the site in the order which gives a continual history of the Morrisons through the centuries.
