Model Airports

"Lincoln International Airport in 1/200th scale"

"Air International", my own freelanced airline, is based at this fictional airport. Here one of the airline's last 707s (a 320C), still wearing the company's older livery, "touches down" on the main runway. I've kept this aircraft "in service" simply because I love 707s!
As I couldn't find a kit of the 707 in 1/200 scale, I had to do a lot of work on this "woeful Wooster" push-together 1/200 model - like adding the undercarriage wheels and doors, building up a trailing edge wing root fairing (non existent on the original Wooster model), reshaping the nose profile and modifying the engines/pylons.

This shot shows the various pieces of ground equipment (purchased from ATP Airliners America) that make the airport look realistically "cluttered". The surface movement control tower atop the international terminal pier was scratchbuilt. It has a small steady red LED on the roof and some "figures" inside (formed out of plasticine!)

Here is what the airport looks like when lit up at night. You will notice the runway lights in the foreground, a row of green taxiway centreline lights leading off to the right, the overhead ramp lights and, above them all, the control tower beacon.
