Burnout

Burnout is awful....I still get it occasionally but the boys are only a part of the reason now....not the whole reason. I am sure that there were many mums I knew with it....because they had far too much on their plates....and perhaps not enough support.

I remember what it is like to have no energy, to collapse in a heap all the time. To be prone to every bug that comes around. I had five Engerix B shots for Hepatitis B and NEVER sero-converted. I developed psoriasis so badly once that I felt like The Singing Detective. I got Vincent's Angina....bloody awful. It took a year to get back on my feet properly. Burnout is just one of those things where you have to take to your bed often to pick up your energy levels.

I would sometimes read about popstars and actresses in the news who collapse from exhaustion and muse at how many parents with auties were out there in much more dire circumstances, and able to hold it together.....sometimes, just.

So, if you feel stuffed, see if you can pace yourself. Catch up on the couch. Get some respite if you can. Because you need something in reserve.
