Kustoms of Australia
invite you to be a part of the 8th Kustom Nationals, which will
be held at Phillip Island Victoria on January 8-10th 2010. The Kustom
Nationals is the Holy Grail of the kustom car movement in Australia,
when once a year the stage is set for all lovers of modified vehicles
to come together to witness the latest offerings of the kustom car
kulture, from mildly kustomized cruisers to krazy kustoms! The Kustom
Nationals is the means to help you express your view of automotive
art , with representatives from top national and international magazines
as well as auto related television shows present to broadcast our
kustom lifestyle to the world!
Well... the 7th KUSTOM
NATIONALS has already been held, and to just say it was successful
would be a huge understatement. The speed with which our Nationals
has been growing is unreal, and it won’t be long before this show
surpasses all other Australian car shows, no matter the genre, in
attendance numbers, but in relation to having fun it’s already eons
ahead! Friday we set up at Cowes for the Beach Party, and were surprised
at how fast the jetty car park filled up compared to past years!
Long before the bands were due to start setting up cars had parked
all along the main street as well as along the Esplanade. Jump n’
Jive got the ball rolling at 6.00 pm followed by the especially
formed Kustom Nationals band ‘Speed’, which consisted of members
from the Flyin’ Saucers and the Runaway Boys, and the party concluded,
after a wild set by Wild Turkey, at 10.00 pm. Saturday at the Phillip
Island Grand Prix Track was huge, with entrant numbers reaching
the previous Nationals Sunday’s entries and Sunday, as always, was
bigger again… with over 1,700 entries by mid afternoon! With the
rate this event is growing it’s going to be awesome in the next
few years! Our main objective has always been to set the foundations
for entrants as well as all the other enthusiasts that attend our
events to have fun, and most of our labour and funding are expended
towards this end result, so it’s always rewarding to be told how
enjoyable the event was, so a huge thank you to the thousands that
came to see us over the weekend to thank and congratulate us, as
well as those that took the time to call from interstate once their
road trip was over to also offer their thanks and continued support.
This makes it all worth while above all other considerations. For
as long as I’m able to do so, I’ll continue to bring you the most
fun events possible, and with Tom, Dean, and Luke learning how to
put on a fun event we’ll be set for a long period of enjoyment in
our hobby! Look for features of this amazing event in many magazines
world wide.
The 8th Kustom Nationals
will be held on January 8-10th 2010, and we’ll look into possibly
organising a get together on the island on Thursday the 7th for
all those that use the Kustom Nationals weekend as an excuse for
their annual holiday and arrive early, and we do welcome any constructive
suggestions. And thumbs down to the doom and gloom predicted with
the downturn of the global economy. It’s became evident that nothing
stops car enthusiasts from pursuing their hobby when and where they
want it, as attested by the huge attendance of local as well as
interstate entrants at the Kustom Nationals on the weekend.
The Kustom Nationals
is primarily a three day fun filled party, and will be kickin' off
on Friday January 8th with the much awaited for Beach Party. Please
note that although the Beach Party normally took place at the
township of Cowes we kinda have been running tight for room for
entrant cars, and with the speed that this event is growing and
with consultation with the Bass Shire and local community groups,
we decided to relocate the Beach Party to San Remo... the gateway
to Phillip Island. Confirmation will be made after further meetings
with council and other interested local parties, but that's the
plan at the moment. Kustoms and Hot Rods will take over the township
for the duration of the annual Beach Party, and during the day you
can cruise over to the Island visiting some of the secluded beaches
and townships, or hang around at the San Remo Foreshore. Later in
the afternoon the bands will set up on the foreshore with the bay
as a backdrop, entertaining enthusiasts till late in the evening.
There’s plenty to do during the Beach Party with numerous cafes,
hotels, and other interesting establishments along the main street
which is being closed to normal traffic for exclusive Kustom & Hot
Rod parking. Saturday you will be treated to the Rockabilly Festival
held at the Grand Prix track from 8.00 am till 6.00 pm, with non-stop
music featuring the cream of Rockabilly bands from around Australia,
and later in the evening the bands relocate to the San Remo hotels
and the party continuous! Sunday the emphasis will be on non-stop
cruisin’ of the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix track, while Rockabilly
bands continue to provide entertainment. Beach Party… Rockabilly
Festival… Top Chop How-To… Pinstriping Workshop… Pin Up Contest…
Hot Rod Tattoo Contest… Model Car Show… Kustom Kulture Exhibition…
Hot Rod & Lifestyle Traders… Kustoms… Hot Rods… Classics… Muscle
Cars… Mini Rods… Lowrider Bikes… Flamethrowers… Muffler Rap… Cruisin’…
it doesn’t get much better than this! So what are ya waiting for!!!
Make plans today… to be at Phillip Island on January 8-10th 2010
for the 8th Kustom Nationals!
