I have collected almost a full CD of midis, ST3's, Karaoke and MP3's from the net. Go to the bottom of this page and send me an email of any you are after and I may be able to help. FREE OF COURSE. Would love to put them here but web space limited - try finding the ones you are after and failing that come back here! The files are small enough to send several by e-mail. You can also sign my guestbook, also at the bottom of this page, and whilst there make your request(s). You can place a private message in the guestbook if you wish and that way no one else can view what you have written. I get an entry in my guestbook (thanks) and hopefully you get what you are after!

Many of these sites are disappearing due to supposed copyrights but many midis etc are 'composed' by everyday people and not intended for money making purposes - just private use. Frankly there is still nothing better than the original you go and purchase from the shop - Karaoke is just good light hearted fun for family and friends (usually when you have had too much to drink!) and not meant to take earnings away from artists etc.

My 2 cents worth regarding Napster - I can see from both sides to this saga but at the same time I understand one of the reasons Napster formed was because the music industry scoffed at the Internet as a medium to make their quick bucks from and now they realise it is a huge market and now decided they don't like what Napster has created. The public wanted to get music off the net and napster answered that call at the time. I feel that if a person wants to get CD quality music and a particular song / album is no longer available anywhere for purchase then it is open season for Napster or whatever to provide it, and so we should be able to get it. The whole of Napster's operations however are under U.S. court action. I just hope that it can at least remain as a means to get free CD quality music from commercially available music where the artists etc have given permission, new artists that wish to get a name, TV etc themes, music no longer available commercially. Napster do have a place despite that 'place' being regulated somewhat. The file sharing concept (regardless of your right or wrong opinion in the way it is being used by the Napster community) is simply brilliant. Think of other applications that this could be used for to allow members to share files, programs and information amongst others of similar interests.

Songs do not play? You probably need to configure your system and / or get a Midi / Karaoke player. There are heaps of them on the net but your system should at least have the simple Windows Media Player which may need just to be installed or configured. See your computer dealer!
You can look at the trial version of VanBasco's Karaoke / Midi player which is excellent and simple to use. (must be simple I use it!) I purchased this over the internet after the initial trial period without any trouble and in any case you get a 30 day free trial before deciding if it is, or it is not, for you! Download one or two songs from here then the player and give it a go. You can even look via search engines for many good sites with Karaoke free songs and / or Karaoke players. Spend a little time and you soon will find some good ones but failing that go to my home page (links section) or email me (see email letterbox at bottom of page) as I have some good ones 'bookmarked'. NOTE:- Great news about Vanbasco's program, see few paragraphs below!
For the uninitiated basically all Karaoke is, is a Midi but usually with a file extension of .kar that has the lyrics (words / text) appearing on screen as the song plays BUT you have to get a Karaoke player not a standard Midi player to view the text otherwise the song will play but no text can be viewed. Some .mid files are also karaoke, play them on a karaoke player to find out and if you want you can change the file extension from .mid to .kar by using the rename command. (The songs marked # in the list below are like this) I suggest a karaoke player, like Vanbasco's previously mentioned, rather than just a midi player as they can play standard midi files also.
st3 (Star3) are a different format of Karaoke / Midi that require a special player entirely and are also available on the net. Star3 is one and is free but until you register you have to wait 10 seconds until it starts up each time you open it! (Not a major hassle). Star3 are compressed into much smaller files normally and quality said to be better but I beg to differ for most songs I have heard.
Regarding Vanbasco's Karaoke / Midi Player I have mentioned a few times I am just a satisfied customer and in no way affiliated with it or any of their other products or services. The choice is yours if you are looking for a Karaoke player but it is a free trial and version 2.02 is not overly large at 557kb. It also comes with free upgrades once you are a registered owner. (Version 2.02 & 557kb was last time I downloaded it).
NOTE:- Vanbasco's Karaoke program is now FREEWARE so you no longer have an excuse not to try it out! Why I don't know but that is to your benefit as it is a great Karaoke program and I already have several good free Karaoke midis for download right here on this page (see below - ones marked with a #) to get you started!

March 2001 - Added another 8 karaoke songs and a new (piano) version of the Aussie National Anthem.
