This is a very simple program I wrote to restart Apache 2 running on Windows 2000 PRO every hour. It came about because it kept crashing and as the server lives miles away from my home I got sick of making emergency trips to restart it.
Its not flash, nor is it intended to be anything definitve, I just appreciate the work that goes into the apache server for free so thought I'd make this tool for windows users available. In Linux I would just use a script to automate this.
Installation is simple. Click Here and download the .exe file into a folder. Make a shortcut to it in your startup folder so that it starts automatically. In the service name field the name "Apache2" is already filled in for you, if your apache server service is called something else you can type it in here (although I recommend sticking with this and renaming the actual service, as whatever you type is not saved and it reverts to "Apache2" if you restart the governor)...might fix that with an .ini file one of these days.
This is written in RAPIDQ (my language of choice). Older (ie. virus definitions not updated) versions of Norton may tell you this file is a virus, because Norton once condemned every program written in RAPIDQ to virus status after some kiddie wrote a trojan in it 10 years ago. Up to date proper virus programs do not indicate it is a virus, so if your PC tells you it is, I suggest updating your virus database or getting a proper virus program like the free AVG.
I may update this from time to time if I change anything so its a good idea to bookmark this page.
