This device was first seen in Episode 1: Contact, when Commander Exxegran and Silvie Gena used it to hide their identities for their
hotel meeting. It was used again by Wendy Ryder during the U.N. Spacy Moon Festival in Episode 3: Festival, but rather than disguising
her, it simply covered her flight suit with an image of her stage dress until the Metal Siren was revealed.
The device itself is small enough that it isn't readily noticeable once the disguise is dropped (possibly disguised as a watch or
hidden in a pocket), yet powerful enough to continually scan a user's physical proportions, movements and facial gestures and map them
in real time to a holographic disguise capable of fooling visual inspection. Its use is restricted to the military and entertainment
industries (indicating that it is expensive). It can be spoofed by a laser interference system.
Size: approximately 2 inches (5 centimetres) in diameter.
Weight: 80 grams
Cost: $65,000
The laser interference system is designed to spoof a holographic disguise. As such disguises are not readily available, spoofing
devices are even harder to come by. They are mainly used as an addition to security measures, in order to stop an unauthorised person
entering a restricted facility by simply wearing a holo-disguise set to look like someone else.
The system itself is a triple-lensed laser projector. It is not a large device, although at least two are needed to disrupt an
operating holo-disguise. It is typically incorporated into the Holographic Video and Studio System (Macross II RPG, page 74).
Hand-held units are available; these are typically used by spies, detectives and military police.
Size: 6 inches (15 centimetres) in length.
Weight: 3 lbs (1.4 kilograms)
Cost: $7,000 per unit; handheld model costs $8,000.
