ABOUT FICTION
Ever since I can remember, I've been a reader. I think I got it from both sides of the family, although Mum was the fiction reader while I was growing up. I've also been a daydreamer for a very long time (much to the dismay of my teachers, not to mention Mum and Dad when the report cards came in). I love stories, and I love telling them. I think that's one of the reasons I dig roleplaying games so much.

This section of the IMAGinES site is where I give my creative impulses some free rein. It can be hard work at times. Recently (during 2001) I set myself a challenge where I'd write at least a thousand words per day. Heh! Nice try, cully.

The Fiction sub-site is my attempt to turn that around. I want to post something new here at least once every week, whether it be a new chapter in one of my ongoing series or a new, stand-alone short story. You can expect a lot of science riction - or, more properly, science fantasy. I prefer adventure over adherence to scientific principle, not that the two are incompatible. Still, I want to try and break my mould, with works like After... and others that I'll discover as I write them.

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy - and if you have comment or constructive criticism to offer, please don't hesitate to e-mail.

ONGOING SERIES

Slamdance

Based on the original Bubblegum Crisis anime series, these short chapters are part of a developing story of one man's quest for identity in a devastated city. But is he a man - or something else?

SHORT STORIES

After...

I started writing After... when some theological discussions with some friends brought me to a few realisations on the nature of life. As such, it's the first non-derivative piece I've done in ages.

The Door

A short horror piece born of my dissatisfaction over the treatment of a certain movie monster.

Ogre: After the Last War

Yet another derivative piece, based on Steve Jackson Games' Ogre Universe.

War of the Worlds: 1999

A short story based on H.G. Wells' immortal novel, The War of the Worlds. I hope to turn it into something larger someday soon.

The Thief

A three-part short story in a universe many of us know very well. A prodigal son returns home after the death of his family - but what does he really want?

Astrodyne

This short SF story about a woman and her fightercraft isn't directly based on anything, although it's inspired by the Wing Commander games (as well as StarLancer). I'm thinking of turning it into something ongoing.
