| On
Sunday 30th July 2006 National Parks held a planting day at Halfway
Point Picnic Area for AMP run in conjunction with Conservation Volunteers
Australia.
AMP provided
a great turnout with up to 110 employees and their families volunteering
on the day. Approximately 800 plants were put in, tree bagged and
watered along the river's edge.
National Parks
prepared the site removing large amounts of lantana and privet as
well as providing the plants on the day.
Conservation Volunteers Australia were hired by AMP and provided
7 team leaders to coordinate the day's activities. They also provided
tools and equipment required for the day.
Seeing there
was such a terrific turnout from AMP they also weeded surrounding
bushland and river edges, removing large amounts of privet and lantana.
A great day
was had by all and the work achieved will go a long way to restoring
the natural habitat in the Lane Cove National Park.
