Family Epacridaceae Styphelia tubiflora - Red five-corners
Diagnosis: Straggly understorey shrub common in Sydney region. Leaves 15 mm long tapering to a point, with margins curved under. Flowers very showy, bright red, 20 to 25 mm long with curled lobes and yellowish-green calyx. Flowering: Autumn and winter. Habitat: heath and open forest, on sandy soils. Distribution: in Sydney widespread from coast to mountains. In New South Wales also south coast and southern tablelands.
