Patersonia sericea Silky purple-flag

A plant with a small tuft of upright, grass-like leaves, which are woolly at the lower margins. The inflorescence is borne singly on a stalk that is covered with grey woolly hairs, and does not reach above the foliage. As a result, the flowers are usually hidden between the leaves. The sepals are also covered in long grey hairs.

Habitat: sandy soils, in open forest or heath, often on edges of swamps.

Distribution: Widespread from coast to mountains. From S. Qld. to coast, tablelands and western slopes into Victoria
