Comesperma ericinum Pink Matchheads

An erect shrub with sparse branches and small narrow leaves. The inflorescence is at the end of the branch and resembles a bunch of pink matches when flowers are unopened. The flowers have two large pink sepals, which split to reveal the small petals.

Flowering: Spring, but sometimes in other seasons

Habitat: Sandy soils, in heath and dry forest, preferring to grow in a slightly shaded position.

Distribution: Throughout NSW except in the west. From Queensland to Victoria and Tasmania.
