Andrew on the beach near home

Andrew turned 8 at the end of October.  He remains tall, lean and energetic. He is maturing into a fine young man.

He has now come to the end of infants school. Next year he will move to the primary campus for year 3. He is a little fearful of the unknown, but all of his friends will be with him so he should settle in quite easily. He is certainly growing up fast - especially for Judy.

He has had a good year. His school reports are very good and he was given an "Academic Excellence in Mathematics and Science and Technology" certificate at his final assembly. He loves to learn.

On the extra-curricular side he has been very busy (all by choice and not by pushy parents). In the last part of the year he had hockey (field) on Monday, tennis on Tuesday, art classes Wednesday, swimming and T-ball training on Thursday and a T-ball game on Saturday morning. He decided to stop gymnastics halfway through the year.

He is now looking forward to Christmas and the Summer holidays. Both he and Caroline have been swimming in the pool since October. The favourite pool game is to chase dad around the pool and get thrown a great distance when he catches him.

He really enjoyed our trip to Hawaii in May and often talks about going back. Though it seems the hotel was the highlight and not Hawaii itself.

His professional plans are to be a palaeontologist, a scientist and a zoo architect.

If I had to choose one phrase to sum up Andrew it would be: "Why does....?"
