Group Classes

Interested in learning African drumming?  Drum Effect provides ongoing classes in which students learn traditional djembe/dun dun rhythms from West Africa in a group setting.  The class teacher, Kate Gascoyne, is a qualified teacher who has studied drumming and dance in Ghana, West Africa.  Kate performs regularly in Canberra group ‘Drumassault’.

There are two classes that run weekly in 10-week terms.  In both classes students learn the calls, djembe and/or dundun parts, breaks and solo phrases of traditional West African rhythms.  Both classes are designed for continuing students however the 6.15pm class accommodates first-time drummers or drummers who are new to West African drumming at the beginning of each term.

Classes are held weekly and follow the ACT school term.  Drums can be hired if necessary.  Students can learn both djembe and dundun drums.  Gift vouchers available - click here.
