Well, at first I thought I would be  happy with just two statues  but, like Norman, I wanted more. So an accidental  detour on the way to a doctors appointment found me back at the same nursery near the station. Sure enough there was another one, standing on the corner, with my name on her head. She was slightly smaller but a familiar figure.  It was on this occasion that I spoke at length with the nursery owner, Paula, and we had a good chat about all things statuary and I found that the moulds for her statues were from Italy, which was an added bonus, just seem more like works of art when they are from Italy rather than some unknown suburb in Sydney or Taiwan).

It was raining the day I bought her and once again, with some help from Paula, we laid her down on the back seat of the car, covered her with the car blanket and I proceeded to the doctors. I was sure the police would be at the car when I returned, for this one really did look like I had a body wrapped in a blanket on the backseat!

She's managed to knock Lucy off her post and take prime spot at the waterfall.

By night, a romantic haven from the indoors

The first night I had the fairy lights all hooked up, I put them onto a timer so I wouldn't have to go out at some unholy hour to turn them off. I set the timer to turn them off at midnight. It took me ages getting them all going, typical hardware store lights, you needed to speak Taiwanese to understand the instructions. Eventually I had them all going, so I raced inside to look out the window to admire my lighting effects. I got to the kitchen window right on the tick of midnight, and off they went! I had to wait til the following night to see what they looked like from the house. Geez, was I pis... peeved.

In the meantime I had spoken with my mum and dad, who were caravanning around Queensland at the time, and told them of my latest quest. They're used to my spur of the moment ventures and therefore knew I'd be on a mission till it was completed. However it took my father's fancy I think and he told me a day or so later that he and mum had found a little something for me, at the local markets, to add to the collection.  He wouldn't say what it was but, knowing my mum's penchant for the markets, I fully expected something quite  out of place, like a naked gnome or a pink cement flamingo, to arrive.

They visited me on the Sunday after they had returned from their holiday and dad, with a rather small package under his arm, raced out to the backyard to check on my progress.  Looking suitably  impressed he handed me the heavy bundle, wrapped in bubble wrap and newspaper. I opened it with baited breath expecting the worst, and already working on how I would  explain why I had put it behind that big rock up there?  Or how this thing had fallen into the pool and smashed everywhere?  My life flashed before my eyes...

To my surprise, disbelief and sheer delight, it WASN'T a naked gnome at all, but rather.........
