FINALLY!!! She blooms!

As promised, and eagerly anticipated by me, the neighbour's wisteria has, at last, made it's way into my gazebo! What joy! Well, perhaps you had to be there. Being that the damn flowers only last a week at the most, I captured the moment for all to enjoy. Well, I know that at least one person out there looks in now and then ;)

Seriously, it did look lovely (note the past tense, the flowers have already gone). In their wake, however,  a more practical canopy of lush greenery is left in its place. From memory, last year it supported a bird's nest that we watched day after day, until the babies were born. A happy family of little finches. They've long since flown the coup so perhaps this year we'll have another expectant mum make her home in the tree, preferably outside the gazebo though.  So, this time next year I will hopefully have a picture of the inside of the gazebo absolutely abundant with flowers (and probably bees).  Below, are a few happy snaps of the difference a little greenery can make.

AND A NEW STATUE TO SEE IN THE SPRING

Visited Eddie and Paula's last week and found Eddie has been busy trying to make his own statues. Not as easy as he thought apparently, so there's a bargain or two for those not too pedantic about their statues. Picked up this little one for $50. She looks fine to me despite a few little rough spots. Paula tells me their house is beginning to look a bit like ancient ruins with all Eddie's failures - quite a few armless and legless statues laying about the place. Even an armless David! That would be novel - David de Milo perhaps! Certainly give everyone something else about David to talk about ! I'm told unlike his arms and legs, his crown jewels didn't fall off, what a guy! Below is a picture of the new gal. No name as yet.
