Structured Mode Dots 1 3

JAWS CONFIGURATION SETTINGS.
You can change Jaws settings for the program you are in. eg Word or
outlook or windows explorer. The changes you make only apply when you are in
that program.
1. Insert with 6 (near letter t)
2. Alt with S - Set Options
3. B for braille options.
4. Tab to Verbosity
5. Arrows can select beginners, intermediate or advanced.
This controls how much braille information is displayed. Beginners shows the
most braille and Advanced shows the least.
Tab to each of the following and press spacebar to turn on or off (check or
uncheck)
6. "8 dot braille". (should be off)
7. "Braille sleep mode" (should be off)
8. Press tab to "braille marking" doesnt matter as it only works with 8 dot
braille)
9. "Enable Translator" (should be on)
10. Press tab to "expand current word" (can be on or off it displays grade
one for the word the cursor is on)
11 Braille mode is Structured (can change to speech box mode for lots of
braille information. May be interesting to try
12. Tab to OK and press Alt with F4 to save and change.
Install Jaws with Telebraille
Install as a powerbraille 40 and it MUST be in Com1
By default the cursor is set to dots78 but as the Telebraille is only 6 dots, this needs to be changed to dots 36 blinking OR 123456 blinking.
TO CHANGE CURSOR FOR DEFAULT.(ALL PROGRAMS)
1. Press Insert with 6 (on qwerty not the number pad)
2. Choose File, Open Default File.
3. The Title bar now reads "Default Jaws configuration Manager"
4. Select Set Options menu
5. Select Braille Options
6. "Braille Dot Patterns" button (or cursor Settings)
7. Select PC Cursor
8. type "36"
9. Select "blinking" and type 500 as blink rate
Repeat steps 1 - 9 for Jaws cursor and invisible cursor
Exit and Save
