Download and setup MSN

Register A Passport

NOTE: you can use a hotmail email or your own email address.

  1. Open www.msn.com
  2. Click My Msn
  3. Click Register
  4. Type your email address
  5. Type a password (you can make up any password)
  6. Click "I Agree

 

Download MSN Messenger

  1. Open http://messenger.ninemsn.com.au
  2. Click Download Messenger
  3. Click Download Messenger again.
  4. Select "Run this program from its current location"
  5. Click OK.

After it has been installed MSN will always be on the bottom of the screen. It will open an icon on the Taskbar when someone tries to contact you.

Chat on MSN

To Open MSN Messenger

Click MSN on the Task Bar or press Alt with TAb

Jaws will find it if you press Insert with F11, then Down arrow

You may need to sign in by typing your email user name and MSN password.

To Make a call to someone

  1. Open MSN messenger
  2. Press up and down arrows to read who is currently online and who is offline.
  3. To contact someone who is online press Enter
  4. Type "hello do you want a chat" and press Enter
  5. Press Shift with Tab and wait for the response.

To add someone to your contact list

  1. Click MSN Messenger (Alt with Tab)
  2. Select Tools, Add a Contact, (Alt with T, Enter)
  3. Select "by email address or sign in name"
  4. Type full email address and press Enter
  5. If they are already signed up with MSN they will receive an email asking if it is OK for you to add them to your contact list.
  6. If they are not signed up they will receive an email telling them how to sign up.

To receive a call

  1. Press Alt with Tab to find a converstaion waiting.
  2. Start typing and press Enter
  3. Press Shift tab to read the conversation.

    4. OR

  4. Send an email messages asking someone if they want to do MSN.

Display Settings

When you are in a message or conversation

1 Select View menu, (alt with V)

2 Press down arrow to "Show Toolbar" and press Enter to turn off.

If you do this, you only press shfit with Tab once to move to the displayed

converstaion. Otherwise you need to press shift with Tab twice.

Start Net Meeting

Actions Menu, Start NetMeeting

Select a person and press Enter

To Add a new person to the meeting

Form the conversation window

Select Actions menu, Invite someone to this conversation.(Alt a, i)

Chat Rooms

Actions Menu, Go to Chat rooms (Alt a, g)

To Add sounds to your messages

Open control Panel, Sounds

Press down arrow to the settings for Netmeeting and the settings for MSN

Press tab to browse to select a different sound and the button after details will play the sound

Edit your profile

Tools, Options

Tab to Edit profile

This connects to the internet and requires a form to be filled in.
