Make sure you are in Word before following these instructions so that the changes are saved in the Word configuration file.
Common problems when accidently pressing a wrong key,
Minus on num pad toggles Jaws cursor Press Plus on num pad to fix this.
Windows Logo Key opens start menu Press Alt + Tab to return to application
If you don’t know where you are Press Alt with Tab, Tab
Start with M goes to the desktop.
Jaws will give information about setting up the application program to work with Jaws.
And lists shortcut keys that are helpful.

Pressing INSERT+ESC also returns you to Virtual Cursor mode and moves the position of the Virtual PC cursor to the first control on the current page.
Jaws setups for Internet Explorer 5
Note: The following changes are important if you plan to use JFW and IE 5.0 with the virtual cursor turned off. Some of these changes may not be necessary when using the virtual cursor.
There are several advanced options that should be changed for optimal performance of JFW with IE when navigating with the cursor in classic mode.
Choose Tools Menu, Internet Options and go to the Advanced page.
Under The Accessibility Section,
Make Sure The Following Are Checked
Move system caret with focus/selection changes.
Always expand all text for images.
Under The Browsing Section, Make Sure The Following Are Not Checked
Show friendly URLs.
Use smooth scrolling.
Enable page transitions.
Switch to the General page
Click the Accessibility Button
make sure "ignore colors specified on Web pages" is checked.
Note: You may want to turn off some of the multimedia options to increase speed when loading pages.
