2 Click Get ICQ for free

3 Click ICQ FTP site .

NOTE FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" which is for downloading files.

4 Select "Save with program to disk "

5 Click OK

6 Select the folder to save the file eg Desktop.

7 Note the file name example "icq2000b.exe

8 Click Save

When it is finished you can install ICQ

1. Go to the Desktop (Start key with M)
2. Press arrows to ICQ2000b and press Enter
3. This will install the program
4. Click Next

CTRL+Enter To send a message

CTRL+Shift+A To Minimize and restore the ICQ client in your desktop

CTRL+Shift+S Restores ICQ if Minimized and places your mouse cursor in the
Web Search filed box.

CTRL+Shift+I Simulate Double clicking on the System Tray

CTRL+Shift+N Create a Note

CTRL+Shift+D Copy Browsers URL to search edit

CTRL+Shift+C Check for new e-mail

CTRL+Shift+E Send e-mail

CTRL+Shift+F Advanced Find

CTRL+Shift+M Bring ICQ Notes to front

CTRL+Shift+F3 Search for User in Contact List

Press Tab to view the Web Search options menu.

Press F3 to activate the Find User feature in your Contact List.
Press F1 to activate the Help file for a specific feature.

If the ICQ window is active you may use the following shortcuts:

Ctrl+M To open the message dialog
Ctrl+C To open the send chat request dialog
Ctrl+U To open the send URL dialog
Ctrl+F To open the send file dialog
Ctrl+O To go online/offline
Ctrl+G To activate group mode on/off
Shift Control with I Opens ICQ Window

ICQ is a funny name for a commputer program and it comes from the words "I seek You" whichh sounds the same as ICQ.

What does "I seek You" mean? It is the same as "I look for you or I look for a friend."

ICQ is a way for two peolple to talk to each other on the computer by typing to each other. It is the same as TTY but it is throough the phone lines connected to a modem which is connected to a computer.

When you start ICQ is gives you a special ICQ number which you can give to your friends if they also have ICQ program.

ICQ is a funny name but it is a great way to talk to friends, especially if they live overseas as it is much cheeper than using the phone.

Some people meet new friends through ICQ and chat via their computers without ever meeting each other.
