Create Home Page

 

Create a folder

 

  1. Create a folder in Windows Explorer to save all your home page
  2. Example C:\my documents\home page

  3. Open Word
  4. Create a file and save it as Index.html in the folder "Home page"
  5. Create another file and save it as smile.html in the folder "Home Page"
  6. In Index, make a hyperlink to SMILE.html
  7. Press Control with F6 to change between Word files.

View your work

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. File, Open (control with O)
  3. Type c:\my documents\Home page\index.html
  4. Each time you make a change in Word press Control with S to save
  5. Press Alt with Tab to change between Word to Internet Explorer
  6. Press F5 to refresh.

Make A Hyperlink

I will use the example of "SMILE " link in the index page to open "Smile" File.

  1. Create and Save both Index.html and Smile.html
  2. In the index file type SMILE
  3. Highlight Smile
  4. Press Control with K (Hyperlink)
  5. Click Browse button
  6. Select the file "Smile"
  7. Click OK OK

Make A Hyperlink To A Bookmark

EG make a hyperlink to the photo of allan on bike in Index page.

  1. Click the photo OR highlight the text
  2. Insert menu, Bookmark (Alt, I K)
  3. Type name eg allanbike and press enter
  4. Press Control with Home
  5. Make a hyperlink to the photo
  6. Type the text "Allan on his bike"
  7. Highlight the text
  8. Control with K
  9. Press Tab twice to the edit box, "Named location in File"
  10. Click Browse button
  11. Select Allanbike bookmark
  12. Click OK, OK

NOTE: you can also have a hyperlink to a bookmark in a different file by selecting both, filename and bookmark name. You just have to make the bookmark first.

Change Hyperlink Colours

  1. Alt O, O (format, text colours)
  2. Press Tab, Alt+down arrow, down arrow to pick colours.

Body text Auto

Hyperlink Pink

Followed link Grey

FORMAT

FONT

  1. Control with A
  2. Right click and select Font
  3. Select comic Sans, Size and Colour

Background Colour

  1. Format Menu, Background
  2. Select Black

Insert Pictures

Look for Picutres on

www.webshots.com

www.bluemountain.com

www.microsoft.com

You can copy and paste them into Word

or

  1. Insert Menu, pictures, From File (alt, I, p, F)
  2. Select the folder
  3. Select the Picture

Resize picture

  1. Click the picture once
  2. point to corner of picture for double headed arrow
  3. Drag mouse to resize

Move Picture

  1. Click the picture once
  2. When you have an arrow you can drag to new position.

MAKE A TABLE FOR PICTURES AND TEXT

  1. Table, Insert table (Alt with A I)
  2. Type number of columns and press Enter

Pictures must be either Gif or Jpeg

Scrolling Text

  1. Insert, Scrolling Text
  2. Select Direction, how many loops, Speed
  3. Type text
  4. Press Enter.

Insert, Video

  1. Click Browse
  2. Click C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
  3. Look for video files.
