Emboss a Braille Document

1 Turn on the Braille Embosser (Back right hand corner)

2 Press the first and third buttons at the same time to load the paper.

3 Press Advance paper a little to make sure the paper doesn’t get stuck.

4 Make sure Desk2 is turned on

5 Open Duxbury from any computer

6 Press Control with N for New Document

7 Copy and Paste text or type a new document.

7 Press Control with T to Translate

8 Press Control with E, Enter to Emboss.

Cancel Emboss Job

  1. Start, Settings, Printer
  2. Click Braille Printer (up and down arrow)
  3. Press Alt with Enter to Open Properties.
  4. Right click print job and press Delete

Troubleshooting embossing problems

Check the cables.

  1. Check the power cord is connected to the back of the braille printer.
  2. Press On Line to check there is power.
  3. The printer cable should be attached to desk2.

Check settings in Duxbury

The Default setting have not been changed.

If there is a problem with missing pages, change to one less character and one less line per page.

Select Global Settings Menu and check the following

3 Switch to Details page (Control with Tab)

6 Switch to Sharing page and select shared as \\desk2\Braille.

Install braille printer again

  1. Start Menu, Settings, Printer
  2. Add new printer
  3. Local (for desk2)
  4. Select Generic
  5. Keep existing driver
  6. LPT1:
  7. Type printer name eg braille
  8. Test page No
  9. Click Finish

Please don’t change these unless you have authority.

On Line button is Back

Line Fee is Skip

Form Feed is Enter (closest to the front)

Press All keys together to enter the configuration menu.

Back repeats last option

Skip toggles options and exits.

Enter changes an option

If you wish to read the spoken responses in braille press all three keys together and at the same time hold down the rocker switch toward you. Release the three buttons then release the rocker switch which will braille emboss the spoken responses. You can move the paper to read the resonse and the paper will be moved back to print the next response.

Create a Duxbury Icon on your Desktop

  1. Open Windows Explorer (Win key with E)
  2. Go to Duxbury folder
  3. Find dbtw file
  4. Press right mouse key and select Send To, Desktop.
  5. Go to desktop (win key with M)
  6. Rename the Shortcut to Duxbury (F2)

 

Install duxbury from disks

Put in disk 1

Pick Start, Programs, Run

Type a:\setup

Press Enter to click Next for folder c:\duxbury

Press tab to c:\dbtdocs and type c:\my documents

Press Enter to click Next

Change to licence disk and click Next

Change to disk 1 and click next

Change disks when asked

Click Finish when all disks are copied.

1 Duxbury will be in the Start, Programs, Duxbury, Dbtwin

2 Copy Dbtwin to the desktop. (Right click, Send to Desktop)

3 Check Duxbury works OK.

Install the Braille embosser

  1. Make sure desk2 is turned on.
  2. Open Duxbury
  3. Choose Global, Embosser Setup
  4. Choose Brailler - Braille Blazer
  5. Port - Windows Device - braille desk2 on \\desk2\ braille2
  6. Click OK.
