Windows 98 Backup

Sometimes it is a good idea to save all important documents on floppy disks as you create them.

If you have lots of important data files on the computer you can use Backup which will compress the files onto a floppy disk.

To find back up there are two ways

  1. Start menu, Programs, accessories, System Tools, Tools, Backup
  2. Open Windows Explorer, position cursor on C: and press Alt with Enter to open property box

Press Control with Tab to switch to Tools,.

Press Tab to Backup and press Enter.

Remember Start key with E opens Windows Explorer.

What would you like to do?

Choose Create a new backup job and press Enter

Choose backup selected files and press Enter

Select the following data folders.

My documents

Address Book

NOTE: Address book is found in your profiles

C:\windows\profiles\peter\application data\microsoft\msoe\address book

It is best to use right arrow to open each folder in the left pane.

After you have selected folders or files to backup,

Save the job as your name to keep your selections

Type a file name for backup file

Type A: as location of backup file.

Click Start.

It is not important to select program folders as you can easily reinstall from CDROM.

To restore backup files

Choose Start menu, Programs, accessories, System Tools, Tools, Backup

Press Control with Tab to switch to Restore and follow prompts

2 Select Restore and follow prompts
