Monty grows up!

Sadly Monty passed away in July 2005. It was a very sad occassion.

Monty is a miniature schnauzer and a very important member of the family, and has been since 1994. Like all Schnauzers he is very people and family friendly and is great company. He sits each afternoon at the back door waiting for us to return home. And what a welcome performance - he squeals, snuggles up close, then runs circles! He rarely barks and loves visitors. It is amazing the memory he has for people he met as a puppy ( 8 - 12 weeks old ). He treats them like special friends.
Schnauzers need to be clipped to get the real "Schnauzer look" - with long eyebrows and beard - and this is done professionally 3 - 4 times a year ( about $50.00 a time ). It would not hurt to do this more often. Otherwise he would be a really scruffy dog. Schnauzers do not loose their fur like other dogs and consequently the furniture ( and your dark clothing ) are clean. Even after all this time he is very playful and can he suddenly play around like a 6 month old puppy.
Monty is a house dog - he lives in the house and sleeps in the bedroom - and usually gets 2 good walks each day. I remember seeing very contented schnauzers living in high rise apartments in Manhattan. So they seem to be suited to apartment living
