Red Lobster is a Melbourne Channel 31 program produced through Northern Access Television (NAT). It is a program about Poetry, featuring performances by a wide range of poets, published and unpublished, from all walks of life. Here are some images from our first episode:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The program is being produced by myself, David McLauchlan along with several others from the local poetry scene, primarily Michael Ward who is the programs main co-producer, and Ted Lord the organizer of the regular poetry readings every Saturday at the Dan O'Connell Hotel. The program is being filmed in various venues around the city. There are around thirty regular poetry readings, monthly, fortnightly and weekly, that take place in various venues all over Melbourne. Some of the readings featured so far have included venues such as the Dan O'Connell, the Molly Blooms Hotel, and the Celtic Club, amongst others. The program is being shot on an irregular basis, with material for several programs being gained from each shoot. The reaction to the filming of the program from the local poetry community has been very positive. Some of the early highlights of the filming included recording the reading of the Molly Blooms monologue from James Joyce's Ulysses by well known actress Maggie Millar at the Molly blooms Hotel, and the recording of visiting Irish Poet Tony Curtis at the Celtic Club. Though the program is about poetry some prose readings will be included from time to time, an example of which is the above mentioned reading by Maggie Millar. We are also from time to time recording interviews with various poets to be included in the program. | ||
