MY INTERESTS
(OR WHAT KEEPS ME BUSY)
I don't have any 'hobbies' as such, but have many interests. When I'm at home, I'm usually found sitting at my computer, either playing games - usually yahoo canasta, researching MS, or doing some Little Athletic work. Recently, this has become part of my physiotherapy, as I had lost the ability to use my left hand/fingers for typing. Fortunately this skill is returning now.
I follow Aussie Rules football. I have followed Essendon all my life, all my kids do too. We also follow the International cricket, I prefer the One Day Series, but like to watch all Aussie games.
As you have probably read in other pages, I'm also very involved with our local Little Athletics Centre. My 2 eldest boys, Jason and Robert joined as athletes when Robert was a 6yr old. A couple of years later, Megan joined, then Andrew. At first I didnt want to become involved, but found myself on a Committee the second year. Ive been on Committees nearly every year since, even after all my kids have finished competing. Ive been a Team Manager, Secretary, President of a Club within the Centre. Ive managed the Canteen for 3 years, am currently the Centre Secretary, and have been one of the Delegates to represent our Centre at the State Conference twice. Little 'A's has kept me busy over the years, and I think I will be around the Centre for awhile longer yet. Ive made some great friends over the years.
I take a keen interest in most sports at international level, especially swimming. Although Im involved in Little Athletics, my personal background is swimming. As a teenager (many moons ago) I was a keen competitive swimmer for my school, and hated athletics as such. Im hoping to go to the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, to see our star swimmers in action.
I also have a real interest in Disability Services, mostly because of my work, but this has recently become more of a personal reality, and am looking at a wider range of services and conditions than before.
