What's new?

Updated: 22 September 2008

  • Operation Muttton Family Gathering is now underway!

Updated: 16 September 2008

It has been a while since my last update.  I have been preparing my trees for uploading to the free MyHeritage website that was given me when they merged with Gencircles.  But, I hated the set up, and have now put a private tree on Tribal Pages to make it easier to share my complete trees, sources, etc.  It is completely private except for the home page, so a password is required.

  • Simpkins - I have been tidying up old emails, and found a couple of details from 4th cousin Judy that had not made it to my files.
  • Child - discovered the baptism of Mary Child in 1822, daughter of Isaac.  Her mother is not Ann (as supposed from 1841 cenus entry) but Frances Blackburn! found the marriage and baptisms on the IGI.  Mary was baptized the same time as two of the other children that appear in the 1841 census 4 households away.

Updated: 12th January 2008

  • Parish - no change, just in format to the way I recorded two variations of the Wayman surname, google was not throwing up my results on the first few pages when I searched.   I had a message on GenesesReunited from Sandy about this family - her gg grandfather John Wayman married Sarah Parish.  Since I am no longer a paid up member I cannot respond to her via that forum, and was checking if she would find my web site.  Actually it is suprising that I got a match, since I have only had one person, myself, in that tree for almost a year now!

Updated: 24th December 2007

  • Mutton Family Reunion - Easter 2009  - to celebrate 160 years since the arrival of William Henry Mutton and his wife Elizabeth, nee Lock.   They arrived 10th April 1849 on the General Palmer.  Details will be placed on this page as they come to hand.
  • Buckoke Randall - added details from George's WW2 file (which I requested to be looked at for possible digtialization in November 2002, when such requests were free, but just looking at it now because I have just got back to that particular list in my paper pile!)
  • Holland  - spotted a file on the Australian Archives site today -  request for assistance by Robert Holland no:1773 (granddad) and the date is a few years before he married in 1926.  I have requested that this file be examined with a view to being opened for digitalization or sending me a copy.  Will this explain why he afterwards changed his name to Drummond!- what was he up to! [update, the file has been opened with exceptions - apparently some really personal stuff there - it will cost me $50]

Updated: December 2007

  • Drummond / Holland - decided not to have a separate Drummond page for Grandad with his life with Grandma - added to his  Holland page.  Almost have this page up to date with my current knowledge now, just a little more of Granddad's WW1 service to add.
  • Hobbs - added their own page.
  • Simkins - brought this family up to date. Added second page for putting more detailed information about aunts and uncles.
  • Howell - this updating still not finished

Updated: November 2007

  • Hunt - received a transcript of shipping records which confirmed that James and John both arrived via the same ship.   James' wife Ann (recorded as Annie) - her mother's name is given as Cath Martin.  Fixed some errors.   Further confirmation that James and John are brothers with both giving their parents as Francis Hunt, flax dresser, and Rose/a McInnis.  Also the parents of John's wife Catherine are given (Cath born Co Sligo).
  • Parish - added info on Smith & Ann
  • Randall - Gt Oakley -  added page with the parish register entries that I extracted.  We have not found any connection to this family.  Hoping someone out there knows of one!

Updated: September 2007

  • Stone - some extra info, thanks to a new cousin Terry, who had pointed out the existence of a book written by Jean Stone about her husband Walter.  Walter was the great grandson of Thomas Horner Stone, and Jean has included some information about Thomas in the book.  A new third cousin, Denis, has found us and kindly passed on Thomas' convict details including his Ticket of Leave date and pardon dates.   I have also added more details for Thomas' marriage and baptism of William - thanks to further images from the registers arriving from cousin Suzanne.
  • Cawtheray - took out Hannah as wife of William and mother of Thomas - but it is possible that Hannah is the name of his step-mother.
  • Menallack - added all current information.
  • Corcoran2 - added a new page for great aunts and uncles.  Started with Mary Corcoran & John Paul Carolin.
  • Whiley - well it is a start!
  • Britten - added the finding of Rachel Boneham being the daughter of the poet, Adam Lindsay Gordon.  (I wonder if aunty Faye had told me that and I had forgotten!)  Her mother, Mary Boneham nee Murphy, was the second wife of William Britten.
  • Corcoran - completed the basic details for Patrick's children.
  • Holland - added 1908 NSW Police Gazette image re: granddad's desertion from RN.
  • Stone - added the date that Thomas Horner Stone's sentence of death was respited - from The Times archive.    Correct a typo in Maud Matilda Stone's info, also added second marriage of her husband.
  • Corcoran - added in marital and death details of John & Elizabeth's children. Began to add in same extra details for Patrick's children and corrected Timothy's birthdate. (goodness, hope I do not keep finding too many mistakes!I had confused the month with the marriage).   I still have to add more dates and spouses.

Updated:  July 2007

  • Stone -  correct an error (yes another one!) had James Stone & Sussanah James as Thomas' possible parents - should have been William Stone & Sussanah James.
  • Tremethick - confirmed that Wm Thos Tremethick who married Jane Richards 1840 is a son of John and Harriot.  Added the marriage details to page.
  • Cawtheray -  added in details of the second marriage of Mary Cawtheray (nee Child) to William Kershaw/Kirshaw in 1875.  Mary was 58, Wm 64.
  • Stone - Added BDM index information, re: the minister who married Thomas and Harriot.  Added some more burial info for infant daughter Ann Stone who died 1861.
  • Williams - decided that William Williams' occupation on his marriage to Jane Menallack in 1844 says Mine-smith - I do not know why I thought it was Wire-smith, it seems obviously the other after looking again!   Tidied up page.
  • Crute  - rewrote what I had for John Crute and Kezia Taylor, since I had found their marriage.  Also I had written in a possible child as fact - a Kezia found in the 1841 census.  Now highly unlikely to be a daughter since they married 1809.  I wonder if it is in fact the spouse Kezia renumerated twice, but with a much younger age.

Updated: June 2007

  • Jeffery - (from Kevin's document) I corrected death date of Mary Ann nee Martin - I had a typo - 28th instead of 29th April. (William's wife).  Added William's birth date and  Mary Ann's birth date as given on shipping indents; daughter Mary Ann's birth and death dates.
  • Tremethick - finally began these pages - put in John & Harriot's family, as I know it.
  • Brittain - corrected another typo in the entry regarding Mary Brittain born 1823 - should have read died before 1828 when her name was reused (not 1848)
  • Stone - added a possible death for Martha Booth, nee Stone, dau of Thomas & Harriot.
