We first find Australian evidence of our George - getting married in South Australia 7th August, 1855. So this certainly helps eliminate others with this name who appear in the 1861 census.
George Howell, b abt 1834, son of Henry Howell, accountant
1841 census, Bristol, St Michaels, St Michaels Hill, Henry is a 30 year old accountant born in the county, George is 7 and also born in county. Mary, aged 5, is born out of the county. A 15 year old servant Mary Wittern or Martin is in the household, no wife present.
