OLD MAN AND THE RIVER

NOT RELEASED by Roger

There's an old man who lives by the river

In an old log cabin with cracks in the wall

Makes his livin' by catchin' of the fish

If he don't catch many well he can't fix the wall

Oo-ee the whistle of the train,

Nail up the boards where the wind goes in

Oo-ee can't go to sleep,

Wade across the river where the water ain't deep

Old man prayed the big fish are bitin'

The time of the year is late in the fall

Winter is a'comin' the wind is gonna whistle

The snows a'gonna blow through the cracks in the wall

Oo-ee the whistle of the train,

Nail up the boards where the wind goes in

Oo-ee can't go to sleep,

Wade across the river where the water ain't deep

When the old man was young, about twenty

He courted with a woman he loved most of all

She ran away with the Coon River gambler

Coon River gambler seven feet tall

Oo-ee the whistle of the train,

Nail up the boards where the wind goes in

Oo-ee can't go to sleep,

Wade across the river where the water ain't deep
